For anyone out there that might be interested. After days and days of trying to get Pdanet to play nicely with my Sprint Treo 755p, my Vista laptop and bluetooth, I finally have success!
First, I installed Pdanet on my lappy. Second, I had to go into Windows Firewall and tell it not to protect the pdanet connection.
To use pdanet over the bluetooth connection it is simply a matter of ending the hotsync program. It seems that the hotsync program takes over the port even if it says that it isn’t. So that allows me to use pdanet. Oh, make sure that you’ve checked “use bluetooth” in the settings of pdanet.
Then to use bluetooth, I uncheck the “use bluetooth” option and exit pdanet. This appears to free up the port and I am able to use the bluetooth to hotsync. Oh yes, don’t forget that you have to re-launch the hotsync manager program before you can hotsync. Also make sure that serial and bluetooth are checked in the connection settings in hotsync manager.
Anyhow, after many hours of trying to get it to work, this is the process that I use to get it to work. Of course, YMMV.
